Getting committed to ORGANIC FAIR TRADE

Getting involved in an ORGANIC FAIR TRADE approach means building a partnership between producers and companies:

-As a producer or as a production group you are given the guarantee of stable markets and of a fair remuneration of your production. You commit yourself to the production of quality organic products, in volumes defined in cooperation with the purchaser, either for each production campaign or over several years.

-As a company you are given the guarantee of steady supplies. You constantly exchange with your supplying partners on the quality of products, on actions to be taken for local development (organisation, training, investments, equipment, ...). You formalise and hold to your commercial commitments: discussions on who will carry the costs of organic and fair trade controls, on a minimum guaranteed sell price, on volumes, and on cash advances on harvests, when necessary.

Implementation of an ORGANIC FAIR TRADE channel.

The ORGANIC FAIR TRADE commodity chain project can be initiated either by the producer (plantation, groups of villages, coops, ...) or by the first buyer. In either case, an ORGANIC FAIR TRADE commodity chain cannot develop or be ESR certified without a mutual commitment between both stakeholders.

Granting of the ORGANIC FAIR TRADE label

The ORGANIC FAIR TRADE label allows to collectively communicate on the ORGANIC FAIR TRADE approaches and commodity chains for each of its participants. The logo also depicts the membership to Bio Partenaire.

General terms :

1) To enter into a contractual relationship with Ecocert for their ESR control and according to the ESR specifications, and to have been granted an ESR certificate for finished or semi-finished products willing to receive the ORGANIC FAIR TRADE label.

2) To be a member of Bio Partenaire, to subscribe to its values and procedures (internal rules).

Note: membership procedures vary according to the activity of the company within the ORGANIC FAIR TRADE commodity chain (Project Sponsor / Processor / Distributor).
