Background History of the Commodity Chain
FYTOSAN is a specialist of biological plant extraction. Ever since its creation in 1989, partnerships with local producers have harmoniously multiplied in an economical environment becoming more and more competitive and with extreme requirements on quality and hygiene.
The cornflower and lavender chains which have been initialised in recent years are under particular stress to put their products into the market while receiving innovative commercial demands. FYTOSAN is therefore involved in a Bio Solidaire approach to add value to the plant resources of the Drôme region for clients who pay attention to the social impact of its activities.
Description of the partnership
Priority has been given to the following actions:
-Definition of a more precise mechanism for the calculation of production costs which will allow to fine tune the protection price of both plants;
-Continuation of the improvement of production organisation (purchase in common of new equipment, partly financed to the producers by Fytosan, technical follow-up,...);
-Continuation of the implementation of new Bio Solidaire commodity chains with other producers.
Internal Commitment of some of the partners for a sustainable production
An approach on implementation of good practices was validated in 2011 and an agreement was signed in 2011 with the purification plant (STEP) for better treatment of the waste waters rejected by the company. Solar panels provide the laboratory and the common areas with hot water since 2010.
Fytosan also has a continuous training policy for its staff (example for 2011: CACES)
